Irish Pot of Gold

I had a request from a work friend for an Irish themed cake...to celebrate a 33 1/3 birthday.

Figured I'd put a bit of Irish into the cake mix itself so used the colours from the flag...I even hand piped the shamrocks...go me!

Having a Hoot of a Baby Shower!

My cousins wife is due with their first baby soon...so I decided to bring some super cute cupcakes along to the baby shower.

I had SO much fun making these, and as no-one knew the sex I made both blue and pink owls. I love watching people's faces when they see my cakes...can only make one smile!

A Party in The Park

Following my best friends 30th / secret engagement, my next project was the Engagement Party cupcakes. The wedding will be a mix of red, white and black so it only seemed fitting to follow those colours with the cakes.

It was also close to Easter and knowing kids would be attending, I decided to make some fun Easter cupcakes for them!

It was a gorgeous day in the park, on the river and we even got to spy on a wedding that occurred while we were there.

A 30th...an Engagement

My best friend turned 30 earlier this year, we all joined her and her family for an awesome buffet breakfast at Coco's in South Perth.

I offered to make her birthday cake and knew straight away it would be a corset...as she has a love for them! This was only the second 'theme cake' I had made and I think I stuffed up most aspects of it...the fondant cracked because I didn't kneed it enough, the laces didn't match up first go because I rushed it and the icing I used for the laces and swirls became watery.

This was an orange cake with buttercream frosting...

I wish I had taken more photos, the cake was whipped away pretty quickly to be cut...and I was disappointed that they put the candles on top of the cake...corsets don't have candles on them haha!

After breakfast we all said our 'pretend' goodbyes...then sneakily followed my bestie and her boyfriend into the city where he had secretly organised to propose to her...cue fiances!!!

Fore!

My partners mum is a bit of a golf fan...he had the idea of making golf ball cupcakes so I hunted online for chocolate golf balls to put on top. I was under the assumption they would be white chocolate but when we went to unwrap them to put them on the cakes they were milk chocolate with hazelnut praline centres so we left them wrapped.

I'd never piped grass before and used buttercream whereas I should have used royal icing so it set hard but had never made it before let alone used it. The Buttercream worked ok though, just have to be careful it doesn't get to warm.

I used a damask embossing mat on the white fondant for the flower cupcakes...I love how it looks!

Oh...the B is for Betty and Bill :)

Mini's

These gorgeous little cakes were lucky to make it...I had left them on the floor in the front seat of the car...and my god son decided he'd climb in through that very seat and use the cakes as a step!

Luckily not too much damage was done and I had one very happy god daughter...

These were for my grandfather's birthday...he never expects anything so was chuffed when I bought these out after dinner...

Busselton Easter Markets

So I finally decided to take the plunge and set up a stall at the Busselton Easter Markets.

A generous friend let me borrow her house for the weekend so I could bake and decorate for hours on end.

It was so much fun to set up and have everyone come and pick their favourite looking cakes...as well as having friends stop by to chat and bring me coffee. Only had a few left at the end of the day which I swapped for some home made dog treats from the store next to me.
